Our Story
The Center for Cardiovascular Wellness was founded in March of 2005 by Dr. Kelly Tucker, a cardiologist who experienced first-hand through his medical practice the devastating impact and effects of cardiovascular disease and sudden cardiac death on his patients and their families. His vision was to create a center that could help individuals detect their risk for heart disease before it was too late. So was born the Center for Cardiovascular Wellness.
In September of 2007, the football legend Dick Butkus, accepted an invitation to join the Board of Directors of The Center for Cardiovascular Wellness. Since his retirement from football in 1973, the former linebacker has committed much of his time to various charities and humanitarian endeavors. He has also undergone successful five vessel coronary bypass surgery and is currently working to help others detect and prevent cardiovascular disease. He graciously lent his name to The Center for Cardiovascular Wellness and on Sept. 4th, 2007, The Center officially changed its name to The Dick Butkus Center for Cardiovascular Wellness.
