Major Accomplishments
Since its inception in 2005, with the generous support of its volunteers and donors The Center for Cardiovascular Wellness has achieved the following:
Cardiac Screening Program
• Launched its Cardiac Screening Program designed to detect an individual’s risk of sudden cardiac arrest and cardiovascular disease. The program is offered to all ages, genders and ethnicities at no cost or for a nominal donation.
• Performed cardiac screenings for thousands of individuals.
• Identified individuals who were at risk for cardiovascular disease and/or sudden cardiac death and directed them to appropriate and potentially life-saving follow-up care and support.
• Provided those individuals that participated in the screening program access to educational resources that helped them and their family learn more about prevention, treatment options and risks associated with sudden cardiac arrest and cardiovascular disease.
Educational Programs
• Offered monthly educational programs open to health care professionals and the community at large bringing in leading experts to discuss how to prevent sudden cardiac death and prevent, detect and manage cardiovascular disease.
• Offered free educational seminars at Community Centers and Senior Centers.
• Offered 12-week Healthy Lifestyle Education Program.
Facility
• Created a state-of-the-art cardiovascular health resource center that is welcoming and openly accessible for patients, practitioners and the public.
• Provided multi-media cardiovascular education resources, reference materials and literature accessible to patients and the general public at no cost.
Community Outreach / Awareness Campaign
• Erected billboard in highly visible and busy commercial location to promote the importance of identifying one’s risk of sudden cardiac arrest.
• Launched “Know Your Ejection Fraction” Awareness Campaign, to improve awareness of this little known risk factor of sudden cardiac arrest.
• Received media attention for its cardiac screening program in local magazines and publications.
• Exhibited at various events and health fairs to educate the public about cardiovascular health and the importance of early-detection of risk factors.
